There are many changes happening in doctors’ surgeries up and down the country. The need to modernise and get as many patients through the system as possible has caused an absolute revolution in the way they operate. My own surgery for example has now asked everyone to register online so we can order repeat prescriptions and book appointments without having to make phone calls or write in. It took only a few minutes to do this and I’ve got my first action already in the bag! This won’t suit the older patient though – the millions who are still completely unready for digital operations. But nurses in all medidcal disciplines have lived with online education and learning for years – updating with role focused bespoke training courses designed especially for their health authority, or purely for their own personal development. It is the way forward – all members of surgery lists need to embrace the changes.
